"Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

The Suffering-Servant-King Jesus invites humanity to become citizens of his kingdom, the kingdom of heaven, now (not after we die and go to heaven).  Heavenly citizenship includes becoming more fully human, now (while living on the earth).

This sermon series aims to invigorate and train people who are following Jesus or who are exploring what this requires.  The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ reveals The New Way to Be Human and empowers all who put their trust in Him to become more fully human.

We have heard it said, "Going to Church + Joining a Small Group + Personal Devotions = Christian," but Jesus says to us, "deny yourself + take up your cross daily + follow me = 'Christian.'"

Join us in this series as we learn and practice three important skills for being human:

1) Saying No (to our sinful Self)

2) Scorning Shame (and loving the "unloveable")

3) Staying Tight with Jesus (by being devout disciples together)

It's also a good idea to immerse oneself in Luke's account of the Gospel, particularly chapter 9.  See the attached video for more Lukan context.

May we have eyes to see, ears to hear, and soft hearts to love,

Sandy
